Our Story

Joe Choate founded Choate's Air Conditioning, Heating, Plumbing and Generators Inc. in 1958, after retiring from serving in the United States Merchant Marines and then later working for International Harvester. Joe believed firmly in the old-fashion values of service, based on his faith and the scripture "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters" (Colossians 3:23).

Choate's: 3 Generations Of Serving The Memphis Area

Joe Choate founded Choate's Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. in 1958, after retiring from serving in the United States Merchant Marines and then later working for International Harvester. Joe believed firmly in the old-fashion values of service, based on his faith and the scripture "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters" (Colossians 3:23). Our Core Values

1943

Joseph joins the U.S Merchant Marine Service

Joe joins the U.S Maritime service in 1943 and goes into training St. Petersburg on steam engines. By 1946 after WWII , he leaves Merchant Marines and maintains his Merchant Marines credentials.

1958

 The Choate’s Company 

1947, Joe was a stationary engineer and boiler operator at Power Hours (Memphis Works) Joe receives his 1st Class Refrigeration License. In 1958, Joe starts his own air condition business under the name “Joe Choate’s Air Condition & Service”.

1987

Name Change and Growth

1987, Joe Choate changes the family business name from “Joe Choate’s Air Condition & Service” to “Choate’s Air Condition & Heating” . By 1989 Choate’s Air Condition & Heating incorporates industrial services installation and begins commercial work.

2022

Expansion and New HQ

2001, Choate's opened their plumbing division do to high demand. By 2022, Choate's moves into their modern facility housing their state of the art training facility and all of 8+ departments now in existence under Choate's Air Conditioning, Heating, Plumbing And Generators
